VG Republic Writes: Once in a while a game or DLC comes along that initially you think oh, its just an add on to that other game and most of the time you would be right. Then Ubisoft Montreal/Shanghai comes along and slaps your stupid face with awesome and nostalgia. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a stand-alone expansion to Far Cry 3. You dont need the disc to play Blood Dragon just download and enjoy. As good as Far Cry 3 was, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is all that and then some. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is the crazy, balls to the wall action that will keep you laughing and happy as you step into your Delorean crank it to 88 and find the definition of insanity 80s style.

If you dont remember the days of CRT televisions, VHS tapes and that amazing catalogue of on the cusp 80s movie making, then maybe youll find it harder to enjoy the nonsensical mayhem that awaits here. Even with that in mind, Im confident that there is something here for everyone. This is quite simply every FPS fanboys dream toy-box. Give it a go."

A game just called 'Blood Dragon,' free of its open-world tropical heritage, would have given developers the flexibility they needed to do their vision justice. Compared directly to Far Cry 3, Blood Dragon is a mediocre Far Cry experience. In a more broad scope, Blood Dragon is an unfocused mess that could have used some fat-trimming in development. Fans who just want more Far Cry 3 or have particular nostalgia for the 80s could certainly find worse ways to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon, but youll have to hear some terrible jokes to get there."
